When to Transfer

Plans change. If you cannot attend an event, transferring your ticket to someone else is a better option than letting it go to waste. On Tickts, ticket transfers are built in — you can send your ticket to another person securely.

How It Works

  1. Log in to your Tickts account and find your ticket
  2. Click "Transfer" and enter the recipient email address
  3. The recipient gets an email with a link to accept the transfer
  4. Once accepted, they get a new QR code and your old one is invalidated

Important Notes

  • Transfers must be completed before the event
  • You can cancel a pending transfer if you change your mind
  • The recipient gets a brand new, unique QR code
  • Your original QR code will no longer work after transfer
  • Some organisers may restrict transfers — check the event page

Why Transfer a Ticket?

Plans change. Maybe you cannot make the event anymore, a friend wants to go in your place, or you bought tickets for a group and need to distribute them. Ticket transfers let you securely send your ticket to someone else without the risks of informal resale.

How Tickts Transfers Work

The transfer process on Tickts is designed to be secure and straightforward:

  1. Initiate the transfer: Go to your tickets page on Tickts and select the ticket you want to transfer. Click "Transfer Ticket" and enter the recipient email address.
  2. Recipient gets notified: The recipient receives an email with a secure transfer link. This link is unique and expires after 7 days for security.
  3. Recipient accepts: The recipient clicks the link, creates a Tickts account if they do not have one, and accepts the transfer.
  4. New ticket generated: Your original ticket is invalidated and a brand new ticket with a unique QR code is generated for the recipient. This prevents any possibility of both people trying to use the same ticket.

Security Features

Ticket transfers on Tickts include several security measures to prevent fraud:

  • Unique codes: Each transfer generates an entirely new ticket code. The original ticket becomes invalid the moment the transfer is accepted.
  • Time limits: Transfer links expire after 7 days. If the recipient does not accept in time, the ticket returns to the original buyer.
  • Identity verification: The recipient must have a verified email address to accept a transfer.
  • Audit trail: Every transfer is logged, creating a clear chain of ownership that organisers can verify if needed.

Transfers vs Resale

Ticket transfers on Tickts are not resale — no money changes hands through the platform. This is a deliberate design choice to prevent ticket touting and price gouging. If you want to give your ticket to someone else, you can do so freely. But the platform does not facilitate selling tickets at inflated prices.

This protects fans from being priced out of events by touts and ensures tickets reach genuine attendees.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I transfer a ticket back to myself?

If a transfer has not been accepted by the recipient, you can cancel it and keep your original ticket. Once accepted, the transfer is permanent and a new ticket has been issued to the recipient.

Can I transfer a season pass?

Season pass transfers depend on the organiser settings. Some organisers allow season pass transfers, while others restrict them to maintain the connection between the pass holder and the club or venue.

What happens if I transfer a ticket and the event is cancelled?

The current ticket holder (the person who accepted the transfer) is entitled to the refund. Since they hold the valid ticket, any refund is processed to their payment method or account.

Is there a limit on how many times a ticket can be transferred?

Each ticket can be transferred once. This prevents tickets from being passed around indefinitely, which could facilitate touting. If the new holder also cannot attend, they would need to contact the organiser for options.
