The official St Paul's Carnival is not going ahead again this year, the last one was in 2023, but we're not going to let that spoil our fun, so we're having our own mini carnival!
At our HOME ED COMMUNITY: Children's CARNIVAL, come and experience Caribbean culture at its finest! Right here in Bristol!
Learn about the five disciplines of carnival: masquerade, calypso, soca, steelpan, and sound systems.
Carnival is a major event in British African Caribbean and British Indo-Caribbean culture, highlighting music, dance, and elaborate costumes. The festival has grown into a symbol of resilience, cultural pride, and community solidarity. The carnival’s origins trace back to Caribbean traditions influenced by Mardi Gras, masquerade balls, and African tribal dance and music.
On the day there'll be an Art and craft activity: MAKE A SIMPLE COSTUME that you will wear on the day. (Come dressed in T.shirt shorts/ leggings so that we can put your costume on top)
Included in your ticket price will be: A CARIBBEAN PICNIC: Fried Chicken or Salt Fish Fritters; Coleslaw; Hardough Bread and Fruit punch.
There will be MUSIC; DANCING; And even a game or two of LIMBO.
Advance Bookings received by 3rd July, will receive a personalised badge or keyring to commemorate the day (We need this time to allow for printing and delivery)
*What you'll be experiencing will be exclusive to our Home Ed Community, as the local schools book us to provide carnival workshops for them. But this is just a fraction of the cultural experience that we'll be providing for our own event. We're going all out! :-) *
