Science and Technology!
We will start this session by looking at robots
Each family will construct their our own small, fully functioning Robot on Wheels
- A wonderful opportunity for families to collaborate, problem-solve, and share the joy of creating working robots together. Watch young builders glow with pride!
- Hands-On Learning Made Fun: Inspire future engineers! Kids learn core principles of mechanics, engineering, and physics through hands-on building. It’s the perfect introduction to without the use of any screens, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The first hour will be spent inside constructing our robots. The rest of the session will be held outside.
* The weather is predicted to be dry for the duration of our session, so for free play and socializing we will be outside in the nearby park. We'll bring a football in case children would like to play and some other outdoor games too.*
* Our HOME ED COMMUNITY Group sessions are Family Learning sessions, where adults and children work together.*
* DIFFERENTIATION: For our general sessions there will be zones where families with children of similar ages will be paired up, with activity levels to suit them and their ages. So we ask everyone to book in advance and provide ages of children, so that we can prepare the space and differentiation in advance.
(The zones mentioned just means that you and your child would just be in an area of the room/on a table/outside with children of similar ages. It's something that my children and other children and parents have expressed, wanting to be among children of their own age).
The zones just allows us to cater to different ages, to allow children and their siblings to attend together. *
*Our group founder and teacher is a home educating parent who is qualified to teach adults and (parent and child) family groups and has a wealth of experience delivering workshops and courses, to children and adults. Spanning close to 20 years. We also have a SEN lead who works with us and also in schools. We are DBS Certified.*
* Regular attendees are able to suggest themes of interest for our sessions. For example we did a whole session about foxes and wolves, which touched on nature studies, history, art and role play, as two of our attendees were interested in them and their survival.*
