About this event
On 27th December 2026, local Grammy-nominated musician and actor Caolan McCarthy makes his long-overdue return to his hometown of Omagh. Backed by his 5-piece band of virtuosos, The Wisdom, Caolan will take to The Weigh Inn stage to play all the tracks from his critically acclaimed debut EP, Paper and Stone, as well as those unbeatable Johnny Walker Wisdom favourites from over the years.
This year, Caolan joined the cast of the much-loved Channel 5 drama, All Creatures Great and Small as series regular, Granville Bennett. He also composed and arranged the Oxford Playhouse’s pantomime of Snow White. Due to these and other commitments, this is Caolan and The Wisdom’s first gig in Omagh in over 2 years so early booked is strongly advised.
Expect over 2 hours of Folk Rock, Americana and Country Soul belters from Van Morrison and The Band to Leonard Cohen and Springsteen. Dancing and listening to over 2 hours of quality musicianship will be the perfect way to spend the night before a Christmas bank holiday Monday. The Wisdom are made up of some of Omagh’s finest players including: Gary “Speedy” McAleer (lead guitar), Niall “Smiley” Moore (BVs, mandolin, trumpet), Cara McCarthy (BVs, trumpet, percussion), Gerry McCrory (bass) and Nigel Simpson (drums). Support to be announced.
See you there!
