Brudenell Social Club
The Brudenell Social Club in Hyde Park is one of the most important grassroots music venues in the country. Originally a working men's club, it has become a nationally significant gig space while retaining its unpretentious, welcoming character. The room is not large, but the bookings are consistently excellent -- you will find everything from post-punk bands to electronic DJs to folk singers on the programme. The on-site curry is legendary among regulars. It is a bus ride from the city centre (the number 56 stops nearby) but absolutely worth the trip.

Just down the road from the Brudenell, Hyde Park Book Club on Headingley Lane is a community space that hosts small gigs, poetry readings, and art events. The atmosphere is relaxed and creative. It is particularly good for acoustic music and experimental performances.
Wharf Chambers
Wharf Chambers on Wharf Street is a cooperatively owned social club and venue that hosts DIY music, club nights, and community events. Belgrave Music Hall
Belgrave Music Hall on Cross Belgrave Street is a multi-storey venue with a bar, rooftop terrace, pizza kitchen, and gig space. The basement room hosts emerging bands and DJs, while the main floor handles larger events. It is centrally located and the rooftop is a fine spot for a pre-gig drink in warmer months.
Stylus
Stylus at Leeds University Union on Lifton Place is a student venue that regularly books exciting touring acts. The room is a good size for mid-level bands, and the student union setting keeps prices reasonable. Many now-famous artists cut their teeth playing university venues like this.
The Wardrobe

Larger venues
O2 Academy Leeds
The O2 Academy on Cookridge Street in the city centre is Leeds' main venue for mid-to-large touring acts. It has hosted everyone from Arctic Monkeys to Stormzy. The standing-room main floor and balcony above provide good sightlines, and the central location makes it easy to reach and easy to find somewhere to eat or drink afterwards.
First Direct Arena
The First Direct Arena on Merrion Way handles the biggest touring acts visiting Leeds. It opened in 2013 and has become a major stop on most major tours. Leeds station is a ten-minute walk away, and the surrounding Merrion Centre and city centre offer plenty of options for pre-show dining.
Getting around Leeds
Leeds city centre is compact and walkable. Most venues are within fifteen minutes' walk of Leeds station, which has excellent rail connections from across Yorkshire and the North. For the Brudenell, catch the number 56 bus from the city centre -- it runs frequently. Late-night transport can be limited, so check last bus and train times before heading out.
Food and drink
Kirkgate Market is one of the largest covered markets in Europe and offers excellent street food during the day. For pre-gig meals, the Call Lane and Merrion Street area has a concentration of restaurants and bars. North Bar on New Briggate is a favourite for craft beer, while Friends of Ham on Station Bridge serves charcuterie and excellent beer just steps from the station.
